What the Christian Book Standard seal means, what it does not mean, and how to verify or report one.
What the seal means
Once the public seal program is activated and cleared, a book displaying the seal must have a record in the Christian Book Registry showing that the exact edition was evaluated under a named version of the Christian Book Integrity Standard and met every mandatory requirement. The seal must appear with a record number or QR code resolving to that record.
What the seal does not mean
It is not a theological endorsement, a quality rating, or a claim that no AI was used.
Using the seal
External seal use begins only after the certification-mark structure and wording are cleared. Once active, the seal is licensed only for the certified edition, its listings, and its marketing. Pilot certifications before that point use the public registry status “Certified” without a book badge.
How to verify a claimed seal
Every genuine seal appears with a record number or a QR code. Enter the record number, the ISBN, or the title in the registry search; the record it resolves to must show the exact edition and the status Certified. A seal without a record, or a record that does not match the edition, is misuse.
Report seal misuse
Use of the seal, the name Christian Book Standard, or a record number on an edition that does not hold a matching certified record is seal misuse.
